Can't He Even Create an Original Book Title?

GlennBeck, of An Inconvenient Book fame (du jour), criticized PBS for saying that his book is not number one on the New York Times best-smeller list, when in fact it is, or is near there. I'm not sure which. I suppose people have grown tired of reading actual reading material, such as Gore Vidal. Well, some would call Glenn's criticism a cheap shot. Of course, lots of squawking heads on the "right" (Read: VOA, the Voice of the Aristocracy) take cheap shots. That's some 80% of what they are about. The crowd who like "tough guys" (TM) and bullies watch guys like Glenn Beck no matter what they say, and we can be sure that they will never say anything really deep nor really heartfelt on camera. That doesn't bring in the ratings, nor the money. Beck's book rails against the horrors of "political correctness"--which apparently doesn't include the sneering lockstep mentality of his Might Makes Right, "brutal torture is okay" views which, though not out in the open, are certainly beneath the surface. Among his fans that I've met, this authoritarian, kick-em-in-the-face outlook is quite open, and quite shocking. But he is another encourager of "OBEY THE BIG MAN" along with O'Reilly, Savage, and Coulter, to name a few. They say to anyone who disagrees, "We have the money, the planes, the guns, and (chuckle) the advertisers. We do whatever we want, so sit down, and SHUT UP, dirty commie/hippie/union member/poor person/dissenter/student of history!" But, I must say, Glenn still looks like Dennis the Menace...
