Plus ca change

One day I saw an engraving, perhaps you have seen it. It is from Europe, sometime in the 1500s, judging from the clothing. As art, it's simple, but quite good. As a jolt to the conscience, it's perfect. The scene, if I recall correctly, is of a man pouring water down another man's throat while yet another man holds the victim immobile on a wide bench.
Perhaps our current Resident and Demander in Chief and his henchmen (and women) are actually magistrates from pre-Enlightenment Europe. Or, to paraphrase Monty Python, "No one expects the Cheneysh Inquisition!"

Well, to put it mildly: Torture is wrong, end of story.
